about bannerB2

Byron Farmers Market is the one of the longest running farmers’ markets in Australia.

It was started in 2002 by a handful of local famers who wanted to be able to sell their  produce directly to the public, in the process reducing food miles and ensuring their small farms remained viable

Over the past 20 years, Byron Farmers Market has grown from half a dozen stalls to over 70 stalls – all offering the freshest locally grown produce every Thursday morning at Butler Street Reserve in Byron Bay.

Our farmers supply everything from seasonal fruit and vegetables, pasture-raised meat and eggs, artisan cheese and bread, seafood, pasta, rice, nuts, honey, flowers and more!

Byron Farmers Market has a sister market, Bangalow Famers Market, which is held every Saturday morning in Piccabeen Park, off Deacon Street near Heritage House Museum in Bangalow.

Unlike supermarkets, farmers’ markets offer a unique shopping experience – a chance to buy just-harvested food directly from the people who grew it and connect with community.

To complement the farmers’ produce, both markets also include a small number of Local Food Artisans – local producers showcasing some of the finest food and drinks our region has to offer.

Both markets are run by a volunteer committee of farmers under a not-for-profit umbrella. As such, we regularly give back to our community through both food and monetary donations.

One of the reasons for the success of both Byron and Bangalow Farmers Markets over the past two decades is our authenticity policy. Every stallholder at both markets undergoes a strict auditing process to ensure that the produce they are selling is genuinely locally grown or made, giving assurance to our customers that everything available at both markets is genuinely produced by the stallholders.
